RC Planes or radio controlled aircraft are an inexpensive and fun hobby that anyone can enjoy.

Many of us dream of becoming pilots. But that takes long years of study and hard work. Fortunately, there’s a way anyone can safely and inexpensively fly: remote-controlled airplanes. RC planes are an inexpensive, fun hobby.

The “inexpensive” part is the key. Those new to RC planes can find the perfect aircraft for them without spending a fortune. Go to any hobby store, and you’ll find RC planes, helicopters and jets for every experience level and budget.

It’s important to keep this in mind: If you’re new to RC planes, you’ll want to start out with a more inexpensive, less complicated aircraft. If you try to start with the high-end, high-performance models immediately, you’ll spend more time crashing your RC plane than you will flying it.

This will undoubtedly lead to disappointment. It may even lead you to abandon RC flying without first giving it a proper chance.

Many RC plane enthusiasts recommend that newcomers start with a foam or balsa wood plane. These are inexpensive and easy to maneuver. Practicing with these starter RC planes is a great way to introduce yourself to this popular hobby.

Once you’ve mastered these planes, you can then move up in the world of RC flying. There are several different models of RC planes available, for all skill sets and budgets. Eventually, you may want to try out an RC plane powered by a gas turbine engine. These are the fastest and most exciting RC planes on the market. Be warned, though. They are also among the most difficult to master.

Flying an RC plane requires little more than your plane, its controller and a wide open field. The location of your flight, of course, is important. You’ll want to select a park or field that isn’t crowded and that isn’t overgrown with trees. You’ll want as few obstacles as possible in your RC plane’s flight path, especially if you’re new to flying.

Once you’ve found the perfect flight location, it’s time to practice. And in this hobby, practice truly is important. You won’t become a flying ace your first time out. In fact, your first few flights may be frustrating, as your RC plane crashes frequently to the ground.

Don’t give up. This is normal. RC flying takes time and practice.

But once you’ve mastered it, you’ll be sending your RC planes through loop-the-loops, dives and sudden ascents.

And then you’ll understand why RC planes are such an inexpensive and fun hobby for all!
